Pivar, an independent scientist, has spent the last fifteen years pursuing the fundamental questions of the origin and evolution of life. His most recent work stems from his involvement with Synthetic Life Lab, established in 1996, where his work with his colleagues culminated in two published books on the subject of the origin of form.
Prior to his founding of Synthetic Life Lab, Pivar organized several other laboratories for the study of cloning and the development of protease inhibitors. He is currently in the process of completing a book on the origin of plant and animal form.
Pivar resides in New York City.
